Closing remarks on our BPC audio series

On April 2, 2010, New York’s Armenian community celebrated two anniversaries: 8 years of Gartal and 4 years of the Armenian Poetry Project, at the Bowery Poetry Club. The Zephyr Poets from Los Angeles -- Tina Demirjian, Armine Inknadossian, Shahé Mankerian, and Alene Terzian -- read with New York City-based writers Nancy Agabian, Lola Koundakjian, Amir Parsa, and Alan Semerdjian.

The event planning began last Summer when Pasadena based Arminé Iknadossian came to NYC to meet with Nancy Agabian, the curator of Gartal, a quarterly Armenian stage reading series, and Lola Koundakjian, who runs the web based Armenian Poetry Project.

The Zephyrs being all teachers, the challenge for them was to find a good time to travel to NYC. When the date was set, Nancy Agabian had a short time to find a venue: the beginning of April being a holiday week, most clubs were either packed or closed. Nancy Agabian and Lola Koundakjian wish to thank Bob Holman, Gary Glazner and the staff at the Bowery Poetry Club for hosting our event.

Gartal and APP are looking for talents, and resources to continue our efforts. If you are interested in helping us, contact us at nancyagabian@gmail.com or armenianpoetryproject@gmail.com and thank you!~
