Searching for information on poet Harout(h) Constantine



Harout(h) Constantine, aka Harut' Kostandyan, author of two collections of poetry, published in 1935 (by Imprimerie Arax, 46 rue Richer, Paris, and reprinted in Armenia in 1988) and 1974 (in Lebanon).

The first volume is entitled Օրերի Իմաստութիւնը (Wisdom of the Days) and the author's name appears as Յարութիւն Կոստանդեան.The second volume is entitled Բանաստեղծութեամբ (By Way of Poetry) and published by Vahe Setian Press in Beirut, Lebanon.

Member of the "Société des Gens de Lettres Arméniens" in France, in the 1930's.

Born in Bushir, Iran, a city on the southwestern coast of Iran, on the Persian Gulf. At 10 he went to India and studied at Bombay's English High School. In 1926 went to Italy and England. Settled in France from 1927, first in Paris, and then Provence where he lived until his death.

As per the Library of Congress, in Washington DC, he lived 1909-1978, although others state he passed away in 1979.

Hello. If he is the armenian poet I knew in late 1970's: He was married to swedish Eva Arosenius before WW2. And they have a daughter born in 1935. She and her relatives live in Sweden I think. In 1960's and 70's he lived with a danish woman, Malene Luders at Montferrat in Provence, The department of Var. They have two children, Aram and Sofia. Harouth Constantin died in Montferrat in 1979 and was buried there.the family lives there still.
