Sossy Nercessian: If stones could talk

If Stones Could Talk

In early morn, as I was
Strolling around the park,
I encountered heart shaped stones.

In utter silence, I felt an untold loss.
If these stones could talk-
Would they tell the story of broken hearts?
Of broken promises, lost loves and hopes?

If these stones could talk-
Would they tell the tales of war and peace?
Of battles fought and won?
Of fears and courage, lost in time?

If these stones could talk-
Would they tell the accounts of martyrs,
Saints and hermits petrified in stone?

If these stones could talk-
Would they tell the story of rejected love,
Held in silence for eternity?

A story of souls once lived and loved
As proofs of eternal existence,
Finding solace only in silence.
